Employment / Accounting Assistant (AR)
SUMMARY
The Accounting Assistant supports the daily activities of the business office. This includes supporting the accounts receivable functions through collating the appropriate paperwork for processing which may include entering the relevant data into Excel spreadsheets or into the accounting software. Additionally, this position supports the general ledger functions by recording standard journal entries, completing account analyses and other needs as assigned. This position requires critical thinking skills and an awareness to being sensitive to privileged information. Hours: Full-Time; 40 hours/week; 1st shift hours Monday – Friday.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following; other duties may be assigned:
- Able to work efficiently and complete assignments timely.
- Record Charges to correct accounts.
- Post AR receipts to correct customer accounts and record Miscellaneous receipts.
- Regular review of AR balances to include collection calls for past due accounts.
- Record standard journal entries.
- Complete General Ledger account analyses.
- Assist with assigned general ledger functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be proficient in data entry.
- Must possess intermediate math skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Thoroughness in completing assignments.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members.
- Able to communicate effectively and professionally with students and parents via phone, email, and/or in person.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A High School Diploma is required; A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred; Work-related experience with preference given to candidates who have experience in AP/AR and general ledger responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively
present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
