SUMMARY
Performs all of the duties necessary to keep the Shepherds campus clean, sanitary, and fresh both inside and out. Provides a safe and secure nighttime environment. Note - this job is 90% custodial and 10% security.
Hours: Full time; benefit eligible; 3rd shift.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs security checks by walking throughout the facilities at regular intervals, checking alarm systems, and checking doors to ensure that all doors are securely closed.
- Performs janitorial, housekeeping, and laundry duties as scheduled.
- Coordinates emergency evacuation as indicated in Shepherds Health and Safety manual if necessary.
- Contacts appropriate staff and/or other professionals as needed when medical, behavior, or other emergencies arise.
- Performs snow removal and salts icy walkways during the winter months as needed.
- Performs weeding in flowerbeds around campus as needed.
- Answers the telephone, taking and relaying messages as needed.
- Accepts special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Carries out the "Biblical Responsibilities of Shepherds' Staff" within the context of job duties.
QUALIFICATIONS

Employee must complete a TB skin test and a physical exam which certifies freedom from communicable disease within 90 days prior to beginning employment. Medical documentation of TB skin test results and physical exam must be submitted to the Human Resources Department prior to beginning employment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk, and reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
