Shepherds College Gave Our Daughter Her Life

This moving statement was the response of a Shepherds College® (SC) graduate’s mom when asked to summarize her daughter’s experience at SC. This parent went on to explain that without the impact of Shepherds College on her daughter’s life, every facet of her life would be different, and the life she currently enjoys would not be possible.

One of the stated goals of Shepherds College is to train our students for life. A life that is fulfilling and rewarding. A life that pursues a divine purpose. A life that maximizes an individual’s God-given potential.

Luke 2:52 tells us Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man. As a young man, Jesus’ growth and development were comprehensive in nature and necessary to prepare Him for the incredible purpose God had for Him.

By design, the Shepherds College experience sets out to impact every facet of a student’s life. Spiritual, occupational, social, emotional, personal, and behavioral growth and development are all addressed during a student’s time at SC. Our training program promotes self-awareness, self-advocacy, and supported self-sufficiency. We do all of this in an effort to prepare each student to pursue God’s plan and purpose for their life.

The Shepherds College model gives students an opportunity to be fully engaged and immersed in a setting designed exclusively for them. Lessons and training modules are adapted to the individual needs of each student and utilize methodology with demonstrated success.

The result?

• Students who have been prepared for life after Shepherds College.
• Students who have been equipped to live a life of inclusion.
• Students who have been empowered to serve others.

As you read through this issue of SOAR, I encourage you to look for evidence of the SC Train for Life approach. You will see confirmation that we use a program that is comprehensive, practical, and one with eternal value. As God blesses our students’ efforts to follow Him and His plan and purpose for their lives, perhaps the Shepherds College experience will prove to not merely impact a student’s life but to help give a student their full and complete life, a life that honors God and points people to Jesus.
