Shepherds College Academic Program

The following positions are currently available within our Academic Program:

Café Manager

As the Shepherds College Café Manager, you will be responsible for leading team members in the efficient and profitable operation of the Community Café, managing the day-to-day store operations, maintaining high store standards and conditions, oversight of all point-of-sales, and provide consistent, fast, efficient and friendly service ensuring a quality experience for customers and team members. You will supervise and train staff and volunteers, ensure proper coverage and scheduling, ensure that team members are educated on products and services as well as blends & roasts, complete inventory of supplies and orders as needed, perform point-of-sale duties, front and back of house functions, procedures, coordinating with the VP of Finance as necessary. You will maintain proper loss prevention standards, review cash handling procedures, deposits, and safety procedures, promote and practice safe work habits, identifying and resolving potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and customer incidents. You will ensure that drink recipes and procedures are followed, that food and bakery offerings maintain the highest quality, and work with staff members and volunteers to ensure program success.

Skills and qualifications for this position include full alignment with the Shepherds College Mission Statement and Statement of Faith, a Bachelor’s degree is preferred, Manager Serve Safe certification (may complete upon hire), experience working in a café or coffee house setting, experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is preferred, professional experience working in the culinary field is preferred, willingness to incorporate teaching methods and procedures of Culinary Arts Director, effective communication skills and a high level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Full Time (Benefit Eligible) & Part Time Opportunities Available; Monday – Friday, 1st Shift Hours. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Advisor

As a Shepherds College Advisor you will promote student growth towards Appropriate IndependenceTM, facilitate academic progress, advocate for student needs, develop goals and supports in order to promote student achievement and instruct classes as assigned (if desired). You will provide academic advisement and regular counseling for an assigned group of students through regular individual meetings and personal connections. You will act as the primary liaison and point of contact between parents of advisees and Shepherds College in addition to interacting with instructors regarding the academic goals of the students on your caseload. You will understand the medical needs of students and work with the nursing department to ensure that those needs are being met. Lastly, you will communicate with outside community professionals regarding medical and psychological health needs for the students on your caseload.

Skills and qualifications for this position include full alignment with the Shepherds College Mission Statement and Statement of Faith, a Bachelor’s degree (degree in Social Work, Psychology or Special Education is preferred), experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, a strong commitment to student learning and development, effective communication skills and a high level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Paraprofessional

As a Shepherds College Paraprofessional you will serve in a support role to instructors, working with individuals or groups of students in order to enhance classroom learning. You will assist students in preparing for instruction, supervise students in assigned areas before classes, manage classroom disruptions, facilitate the work of students in small groups and work one-on-one with students as needed. You will co-teach lesson components as determined by the instructor, supervise students during the lunch hour, facilitate the growth of Appropriate IndependenceTM, support classroom instruction methods and procedures and observe and record information related to the tracking of student behavior.

Skills and qualifications for this position include full alignment with the Shepherds College Mission Statement and Statement of Faith, a Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required; a degree in Social Work, Psychology or Special Education is a plus, ABA experience is preferred but not required, experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, a strong commitment to student learning and development, effective communication skills and a high level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Shepherds College Student Life Program

The following positions are currently available within our Student Life Program:

Student Life Staff

The Student Life Staff for Shepherds College will help guide students in the implementation of daily living skills training and provide supervision and direction for the students through the implementation of both structured activities and leisure time interactions, all in an effort to promote students’ growth towards Appropriate Independence™.

Full Time (Benefit-Eligible), Part Time & Pool Staff Opportunities Available; Weekdays from 3pm to 9pm, Weekends from 7am – 9pm; Combination of Weekday & Weekend Shifts Available; Pay is commensurate with experience.

Emergency Response Staff (ERS) Sleep-In Shifts

The Emergency Response Staff (ERS) is responsible for sleeping overnight in a designated living area on campus, and responding to emergencies that may arise within the designated living area, including weather, fire, and medical emergency situations.

Full Time (Benefit-Eligible) & Part Time Opportunities Available; Weekdays from 8:30pm to 8:30am, Weekends from 9pm to 7am; Pay Rate is $8.34/hour.

Shepherds College Human Resources Department

The following position is currently available within our Human Resources Department:

Human Resources Assistant & Volunteer Coordinator

As the Shepherds College Human Resources Assistant, you will assist the Director of Human Resources with managing several different functions within the Human Resources department including, but not limited to, staffing and recruitment, onboarding, record maintenance, event planning/coordination, training, benefits administration and employee relations. As the Volunteer Coordinator, you are responsible for the management and coordination of the volunteer program, guest services/hospitality, tours, recruitment and training of new volunteers, coordination of the volunteer portion of the Shepherds College Church Ambassadors Program, and supporting the associations with other ministries, organizations and individuals having interest in the mission and vision of Shepherds College.

Skills and qualifications for this position include full alignment with the Shepherds College Mission Statement and Statement of Faith, a Bachelor's degree (preferred), prior experience working in a Human Resources position or in a similar role, proficiency in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and HRIS databases, strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills, must be an adept problem solver who has the ability to identify issues and come up with resolutions in an efficient and timely manner and must have prior experience successfully managing confidential information in a professional manner.

Full Time & Benefit Eligible; Regular 1st Shift Hours Monday - Friday. Pay is commensurate with experience.

Shepherds College Maintenance and Domestics

The following position is currently available within our Maintenance & Domestics Department:

3rd Shift Security and Domestics

As 3rd Shift Security and Domestics, you will provide a safe and secure nighttime environment and perform all custodial duties necessary to keep the Shepherds campus clean, sanitary and fresh both inside and out.

Skills and qualifications for this position include a high-school diploma or GED, at least one year experience in janitorial/custodian work, previous experience with individuals with disabilities preferred.

Full Time & Benefit Eligible; Monday – Sunday from 9pm – 7am Every Other Week; Pay is commensurate with experience.
